Casa M project arises from the need to give new life to a work originally commissioned to the renowned architect Héctor Hinojosa Zozaya, during the 1950s, who created a classic piece of the modernist movement of the time. The intervention was based on the respect of the original project and history of those who lived in the house for almost seventy years, creating a space for family coexistence with a modern and classic style.
The architectural program is developed mainly in a two-level volume constructed on a stone base that elevates it a couple of meters above the bench level, giving the upper rooms a great view and allowing an integration of the common areas into the garden. With the new architectural intervention, a second volume was developed, which is harmoniously attached to the original project, which houses a pool with an interior garden.
On the ground floor is developed the social area of the house, starting with a large living room and dining room, in which we designed mobile bookcases that allow to give dynamism to the space and develop different simultaneous activities. The space is integrated into the terrace and garden by a sliding gate that allows to achieve a sensation of an interior - exterior space. Next to the room is a small study and library, which was left intact as the original architectural style of the house.
The house was structurally renovated, ensuring its life for more years, employing various reinforcements by means of steel and concrete profiles, which were hidden within the panel to not interfere with the original architectural style. The interventions were discreet, achieving an architectural project with a timeless style that will give the user a functional home for many years to come.
