Parque Ignacio Zaragoza

2019, Acaponeta

As part of the public space projects developed in Acaponeta for INFONAVIT, Parque Ignacio Zaragoza proposes an intervention that defines the park’s edges through a pedestrian walkway and two tree-lined access plazas: one marking the entrance to the sports court and the other leading to the covered pavilion.

A line of vegetation, composed of ficus trees, provides shade and accompanies the project’s programmatic area, which includes the sports court and the pavilion. Through this vegetated edge, the intervention separates the park’s public program from the adjacent houses. The green areas are organized within a triangular layout that reinforces this separation from the existing buildings.

The planting selection incorporates native species, such as primavera trees to provide color, as well as low groundcover plants that create a transition between the walkways and pedestrian areas. The paving pattern of the walkways and plazas brings rhythm to the user’s path.
