Kinder Kennedy

2019, Querétaro

We believe that the new Preschool facilities should examine the experience of their spaces from the perspective of three figures: the children, the educational team, and the families. From this starting point, the proposal is conceived as a clear and ordered structure, capable of promoting sequences of scenarios in which spaces can be appropriated in different ways depending on the user, the activity, and the moment in which they are used. By emphasizing public spaces as organizing elements within the building, it becomes possible to read the individual character of each of the pieces that compose it.

For children, the proposal represents a clear and legible framework that builds a sense of security, while allowing for variations that awaken their creativity and imagination. For teachers and assistants, the building is logical and enables a simple, orderly, and customizable operation. For families, it becomes easy to recognize the way in which spaces are used, as well as the importance of providing diverse environments to achieve specific and differentiated outcomes within their children’s formative process.

The brief presents an important challenge by combining, within the same site, the Preschool facilities with the expansion of the campus’s sports infrastructure. The proposal succeeds in respecting the independence of both programs without compromising the operational requirements each one demands, integrating them into a single architectural language and object capable of bringing clarity, order, and personality to the ensemble.

At the scale of the campus, the project understands the operational complexities implied by the program, while contributing a building with a distinct identity of its own.
